Genesee Valley Hunt Parade and Opening Meet @ The Wadsworth Homestead and Main Street
Sep 21 @ 7:30 am – 9:00 am

GVHThe Opening Meet marks the beginning of the formal foxhunting season. Hounds, staff and subscribers traditionally ride up Geneseo’s Main Street at 7:30 AM from the Wadsworth Homestead to the Hartford House at the north end, and off into the countryside from there. The sight of so many riders of all ages and sound of so many hooves on the pavement are stirring. (Valley Horses by Sally Fox, Livingston County News, September 18, 2014)

Car Seat Check @ Geneseo Fire Hall
Sep 21 @ 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Events are held throughout the county for parents and caregivers to receive information and hands-on assistance in the proper use of child safety restraint systems and seatbelts based on the height and weight of the child. Safety seats are checked to make sure they are safe and installed properly.

County parents/caregivers with limited financial resources (who qualify for WIC) can receive a car seat at no charge. Must be a Livingston County resident.

Wadsworth Writers @ Wadsworth Library

Do you have a passion for writing and enjoy sharing with others? Join us for this special writing group at Wadsworth Library. Participants can write and share memoirs, poetry, or original stories with a supportive learning community of fellow writers. Begins Saturday, September 7. Workshops are held every other Saturday of the month from 10:15 am – 12:30 pm. This program is best for adults. Registration is required; space is limited.

Honors Recital @ Doty Recital Hall

The SUNY Geneseo Department of Music will proudly present two recitals featuring the winners of the 2019 Honors Competition. The recitals will take place at 1:00 PM in Doty Recital Hall, as part of SUNY Geneseo’s Family Weekend Events and 3:45 PM at The Lyric Theatre Cabaret Hall, as part of the Rochester Fringe Festival.

Selected by a panel of professional judges, the winners of the 2019 Honors Competition are: Brett Hammes, tenor; Annie Levine, soprano; Grant McElhany, cello; Kayla McGallian, soprano; Rocky Nardone, baritone; Kelsey Roberts, soprano; Sara Stoner, clarinet; and Shotaro Toyoda, violin.  The students will be assisted by faculty collaborative pianist, Dr. Kurt Galvan.

Additionally, Geneseo Chamber Music will present this day at 5:30 PM at the same facility (The Lyric Theatre Cabaret Hall) as part of the Rochester Fringe Festival.
