Memorial Day Observed
May 25 all-day

Memorial-DayMemorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. More at History.com.

This day is special despite our current “pause.”
• Click HERE for information regarding flag locations in memory of local veterans this year.
• At the bottom of this calendar entry is a link to last year’s program for public reference – until we can gather again.

Meanwhile we can observe the National Moment of Remembrance at 3 PM.*
*The National Moment of Remembrance encourages all Americans to pause wherever they are at 3 PM local time on Memorial Day for a minute of silence to remember and honor those who have died in service to the nation. As Moment of Remembrance founder Carmella LaSpada states: “It’s a way we can all help put the memorial back in Memorial Day.” –from Military.com
And if you should hear taps, even better. See Taps Across America from CBS Sunday Morning, May 24.

For reference from Memorial Day 2019
• Parade begins from the Village Park at 10:30 AM
• Procession forms at 10:00 AM on Park Street near the historic Log Cabin.
• The “Line of March” will be north on Main Street to the Civil War Monument (near St. Mary’s Church and the Courthouse), and return following services, to the Village Park. A ceremony will be held at the Village Park following the parade.
