Major General James S. Wadsworth’s daughter, Elizabeth, led an interesting life both in Geneseso and abroad. The presentation will cover her youth and the loss of her father; her first marriage and life in France; her second marriage and subsequent life between Ireland and England (Lady Barrymore); her two daughters’ upbringing and the society around them.

Looking to become more comfortable with your computer, tablet, or smart phone? Get one-on-one tech help at the library. Sign-up now for a one-hour session by calling (585) 243-0440 or stop in the library. The tutor is available on Mondays from 6-8 PM. The dates are February 3, March 2, April 6, May 4, and June 1. This program is funded by a Workforce Development Grant from Pioneer Library System awarded to Livingston County Libraries.

Please note that Wadsworth Library is currently closed due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Therefore April events are canceled.

Photographer Char Szabo-Perricelli & David Mack-Hardiman, Director of the Museum of disABILITY History recently released their new book Colony Chronicles. “The cryptic history of the Craig Colony has been brought to life through rich history and eclectic photographs. Packed with personal memoirs and riveting research, this is an absorbing and rare account of life inside an American Institution.”

Harvest Moon: Farm to Table Fundraiser @ Oak Knolls Manor

Celebrating the harvest of the region, guests will be surrounded by the incredible 360 degree beauty at Oak Knolls Manor and its uniquely restored Wells barn. LCHS – Bus Tour to Ganondagan @ Bus leaves and returns to Livingston County Historical Society Museum

Meet at the Livingston County Historical Society Museum, hop on the bus, and enjoy an afternoon trip to and from Ganondagan located in Victor, NY. Your group admission covers a special two-hour program including: the Creation Story Film, a Gallery Tour, and a guided presentation at the Bark Longhouse. Registration required. LCHS Program: Shakers of Western New York / Semi Annual Meeting @ Livingston County Historical Society Museum

Established in the late 1700s, the Shakers have intrigued Americans with their religious services, architecture and furniture. What unique aspects defined this nearly 250 year-old religious communal society? What is known about the Shakers in Western NY who moved from Sodus to establish their community at Groveland? Peter Wisbey, curator of collections at Genesee Country Village and Museum will answer these questions and more.
