2020 Rotary Summer Festival Rescheduled to July 9 & 10, 2021 @ Geneseo Village Park

The Geneseo Rotary Summer Festival (originally to be held on July 10 and 11, rescheduled to September 25 and 26) has now been moved to 2021.
• Friday, July 9, 2021
• Saturday, July 10, 2021
• Geneseo Village Park, corner Main and Park Streets

The Rotary Club of Geneseo provides this statement on its website “Due to the uncertainty of the spread of the Corona virus, the Geneseo Rotary Club has decided to postpone the Summer Festival until July 9 & 10, 2021. This was not an easy decision however it was the right decision, as the health of our community is most important. We are planning the same activities with the highlight being the Saturday evening free performance by the Skycoasters. We hope everyone will be able to join us in what has become one of the favorite weekends of the year.”

Summer Gardening Series @ Online

Join us for our summer gardening series with Petra Page-Mann from Fruition Seeds. The classes are being offered cooperatively thanks to outreach by Wood Library, sharing of the Zoom platform by Macedon Public Library and funding provided by all participating libraries –  Wood Library, Wadsworth Library, Marion Public Library, Palmyra Community Library, Gorham Free Library, Stevens Memorial Community Library, Williamson Public Library and Rose Free Library. The sessions are described below:

Let’s Build a Container: June 5
Surrounding yourself with abundance in containers is so rewarding, though far from foolproof! Build your own container garden with a lifelong container gardener, Naples native and co-founder of Fruition Seeds, Petra Page-Mann. Materials to have on-hand: Containers (bigger = better), rich potting mix & compost (more nutrients = better), seeds and/or transplants.

Seven Easy Seeds to Succession Sow: July 10
Would you love to harvest fresh salad through Thanksgiving? Fresh pesto all the way to frost? Here are the seeds & simple strategies to surround yourself with impressive abundance all season long with life-long gardener, Naples native & co-founder of Fruition Seeds, Petra Page-Mann.

Sowing Autumn Abundance in August: August 14
Plant in late summer to enjoy the sweetest fall peas and to have enough spinach to enjoy through the spring! Here are the easiest seeds to sow to surround yourself with abundance for seasons to come, plus the common mistakes people make so you sow with confidence! Join life-long gardener, Naples native & co-founder of Fruition Seeds, Petra Page-Mann.

Oak Tree Half Marathon and 5K Run & Walk SOLO EDITION @ Geneseo Central School

Originally scheduled as an event for Sunday, September 6, 2020, the Oak Tree Race is going solo this year. To minimize gathering of racers, volunteers, and race-workers, the Solo Oak Tree will be organized as an ‘on-your-own-race’ at a date and time of your choosing, but will take place on the scenic Oak Tree course! Your reduced price entry will support local conservation efforts. A complete list of runners and times will be published so you can see how your run stacks up against the competition.

• Date & Time: You may run the Solo Oak Tree starting August 1 through September 7 (end of Labor Day Weekend)

Attic Treasures Sale @ Livingston County Historical Society Museum

Shop for quality and vintage items on the grounds of the Livingston County Museum. LCHS accepts quality donations, including antique, vintage, and unique items, and then sells these items on the grounds of the Livingston County Museum as a fundraiser (no clothing, appliances, or plastic toys).  Please deliver your items to the museum or call 243-9147 or email lchistory@frontier.com to make alternate arrangements.   No early birds please.

Harvest Moon: Farm to Table Fundraiser @ Oak Knolls Manor

LCHS – Bus Tour to Ganondagan @ Bus leaves and returns to Livingston County Historical Society Museum

Meet at the Livingston County Historical Society Museum, hop on the bus, and enjoy an afternoon trip to and from Ganondagan located in Victor, NY. Your group admission covers a special two-hour program including: the Creation Story Film, a Gallery Tour, and a guided presentation at the Bark Longhouse. Registration required. LCHS Program: Shakers of Western New York / Semi Annual Meeting @ Livingston County Historical Society Museum

Established in the late 1700s, the Shakers have intrigued Americans with their religious services, architecture and furniture. What unique aspects defined this nearly 250 year-old religious communal society? What is known about the Shakers in Western NY who moved from Sodus to establish their community at Groveland? Peter Wisbey, curator of collections at Genesee Country Village and Museum will answer these questions and more.

Genesee Valley Quiz Night @ The Big Tree Inn

At Quiz Night, teams (of friends, family, co-workers, others) seek to out-score other teams on questions in roughly 10 diverse categories together with a picture quiz (more on this later). The questions are devised by an experienced group of Quiz Masters. The sought-after trophy in this contest of wits, knowledge and guesswork is a glamorous cup of possible historic significance – well, at least 10 years old.
