LCHS Program: Big Tree Exhibit / Semi-Annual Meeting @ Livingston County Historical Society and Museum
May 19 @ 1:30 pm

With the opening of the Big Tree Exhibit, learn from exhibit designer Lauren Becker about the many layers of history embedded in the exhibit. From ancient geology to the modern-day study of the mighty oaks and their connection to the Seneca people, Becker will weave together a narrative sure to excite those who’ve resided in the realm of the famous Big Tree.
• Additional parking available in church lot next door.

LCHS Program: The History of Salt Mining @ Livingston County Historical Society and Museum

Explore the history of Livingston County through the story of one of the world’s most important minerals. Co-founder and co-CEO of American Rock Salt, Joe Bucci, Sr. hails proudly from a long line of salt miners. As recent Italian immigrants to America, the early Bucci family, along with many other Italian families that resided in Retsof, made their living on salt, utilizing the opportunity for labor provided by the Western New York salt mines.
