MARS Club Launch Event @ National Warplane Museum
Sep 29 @ 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

MARS Rocketry is a family friendly rocketry group that flies at the National Warplane Museum airfield, just minutes from Rochester and only an hour from Buffalo, in Geneseo, NY. MARS is NAR’s oldest continually active section, and the largest rocketry club in New York state. Our launches host club members and guests flying rockets ranging in size from 1/4″A” powered Estes rockets to “N” powered monsters. MARS is a National Association of Rocketry (NAR) sanctioned club and all MARS launch activities are governed by the NAR safety code.

Spectators are welcome and there is NO CHARGE for spectators. The Geneseo field is easy to find and is just a few miles from I-390. Bring the kids and plan to spend at least a few hours. Animal Motor Works and Performance Hobbies will be in attendance at our launches- maybe you can re-kindle a past interest in rocketry! Buy a kit and come back to fly it at our next launch.

Genesee Valley Hunt Races & Fall Festival @ Race Grounds
Oct 13 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

stevensprint2007The Genesee Valley Hunt Races and Fall Festival is a great way for the entire family to spend the day in a beautiful outdoor setting just north of Geneseo, NY. The Hunt Races have been hosted here for over 120 years, and some of the finest steeplechase trainers on the eastern seaboard bring their horses here to race in this pastoral setting.

But the Hunt Races and Fall Festival isn’t just about horses—it’s about dogs and canine events, too. There are Terrier and wiener dog races, a jumping contest, agility courses, sled dog demos, and of course the Parade of the Genesee Valley Hunt foxhounds. Leashed dogs are more than welcome to attend the event, and some people say that dog-watching is just as much fun as watching the horses!

There’s lots for the kids to do (including stick horse races and pony rides), food and drink vendors, wine and craft beer tasting, shopping, music and more. It’s like an old-fashioned country fair with a race track instead of a midway, and there’s something for everyone to enjoy!

Purchase tickets at Wegmans or via web at this link.

13th International Genesee Valley Quiz Night @ The Big Tree Inn
Nov 9 @ 7:00 pm

At Quiz Night, teams (of friends, family, co-workers, others) seek to out-score other teams on questions in roughly 10 diverse categories together with a picture quiz (more on this later). The questions are devised by an experienced group of Quiz Masters. The sought-after trophy in this contest of wits, knowledge and guesswork is a glamorous cup of possible historic significance – well, at least 10 years old.
