The Bertha V.B. Lederer Gallery is pleased to host an exhibit that is timely and moving – They That Matter. This exhibit is a tribute to nineteen young men felled by police violence. These shrine-like portraits were produced with the call to all of us to recognize “the humanity of the victims and that their lives mattered.” Accompanying the exhibit will be a video recording of the artist speaking about this exhibit and his art practice.
Collins is an Ohio based artist whose art practice encompasses painting, sculpture, printmaking, and moves between figurative art work and geometric abstraction. This multi-media artist has received commissions form the Ohio Department of Transportation, Columbus Parks and Recreation, and The Dayton Opera Association and the Dayton Printmaker’s Cooperative Project. Other awards and fellowships include 2 Ohio Arts Council Residency Awards to Germany. Exhibitions include Ladislav Gallery in Pilsen, Czech Republic; Miami University Art Museum; Lalit Kala Akademi Gallery in New Delhi, India; Standehas Gallery in Dresden, Germany; Perdu University’s Reuff Gallery, Gallery Guichard in Chicago; and many Ohio museums and galleries.
