In this brand new History Houses program, based on a true story, you will meet Helen Purviance and Margaret Sheldon who traveled with the Salvation Army to France to help our fighting boys…what could they possibly do to help?
For starters, these women tended to broken bones, offered hope, wrote letters, sang songs, and made donuts—that’s right—donuts! And that donut-making led to a National Holiday here in the United States. Hear their harrowing tale, see their tent and belongings, and view the newest History House—a bombed-out cottage just right for a canteen to serve our soldiers. Don’t miss this fun family event! Be sure to stay afterward to frost and decorate your own donut to take home.
